I offer individual therapy to adults addressing a range of mental health concerns, including anxiety, stress, life transitions, PTSD, intimate partner violence, grief, and depression. Although I am currently part of a private practice, the majority of my experience has been in a women's residential program addressing co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders. I enjoy helping people find the connection between addiction, mental health, and early life experiences.
I believe talking about lived experiences and the emotions related to those experiences can stimulate change and promote healing. My primary approach is person-centered, which empowers people to realize their potential to heal themselves. I also utilize techniques from Gestalt, CBT, DBT, and MI.
As a therapist, my role is to provide an environment that consists of unconditional positive regard, genuineness, and empathic understanding. Although you will set specific individual goals, some of the overarching goals of person-centered therapy are to facilitate growth and development, decrease feelings of distress, and increase self-esteem.
