I believe your mind and what you tell yourself are your most powerful tools. When I meet with people, I start with an acceptance-based approach of where they are now while moving toward management of symptoms of anxiety, depression and other mood disorders, grief and loss, trauma, AD(H)D, or experiences of gender or non-binary challenges. When working with children and adolescents, I seek to empower them to make their wisest choices. With adults, I always affirm they are the expert in charge of their lives. Treatment for all ages combines best practices for promoting positive and lasting change. I use mainly cognitive-behavioral strategies, solution-focused therapy, EMDR, and existential therapy. Work in session is collaborative, and because one hour per 1-2 weeks is usually not enough to promote lasting change, client work between sessions is often encouraged.

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) with a master's degree in Counseling Psychology (2008) from the University of Minnesota at St. Mary's. My training includes cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), mindfulness, acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), parent management techniques (PMT) for child behavior issues, eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), and serving the LGBTQA community. I continually seek new information and training to improve my ability to serve others.

I enthusiastically work with individuals of all ages, including youth ages 6-19, to build skills they need to understand emotions, explore new perspectives, communicate more effectively, and to be and value themselves.
