Alexander Smith, PsyD, received his doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology from Pacific University in Hillsboro, Oregon. He is currently a psychologist resident being supervised by Rebecca Bobek, PsyD, and is working towards receiving his licensure in Oregon.
At Strong Integrated Behavioral Health, Dr. Smith provides individual and family therapy to both children and adults. Additionally, he is providing comprehensive psychological assessments to aid in diagnosis and treatment planning. He has experience in a wide range of settings such as outpatient, private practice, and residential treatment facilities. He has experience working with a diverse population of people with a range of difficulties including trauma, depression, anxiety, behavioral disorders, ADHD, parenting difficulties, LGBT concerns, and racial identity difficulties. In regards to assessment, Dr. Smith has experience providing psychological evaluations assessing for ADHD, Autism, Bipolar disorder and other neurocognitive or emotional disorders. Dr. Smith also provides readiness evaluations for transgender individuals.
Dr. Smith’s theoretical orientation is integrated but focuses primarily on behavioral therapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, in addition to acceptance and mindfulness based approaches such as ACT. He focuses on using evidence-based treatments as a means to effectively work with his clients. In working with LGBT individuals, he utilizes a gender affirming approach.
